Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick 30 Romantic Review.

I love lipsticks and after using it a lot, I feel it as a bare necessity for me. Considering that I also have pigmented lips, I need lipsticks to keep the dark lips hidden at times. I recently purchased 3 matte ink lipsticks from Maybelline and today’s review is all about Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in the shade “30 Romantic”. Read on to know more on the same.

My Experience with Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick 30 Romantic:

The matte ink lipsticks come in a rectangular plastic case with a white cap that holds the applicator. There is a seal between the cap and the bottom and you can be sure that it has not been tampered with. The color of the product is same as the color of the package. There are slight variations, but it is almost the same color in the tube. You can place the product on the shelf without any issues. There is hardly anything mentioned on the tube, except the name on the cap and the shade name in the bottom. The screw cap closes tightly and there is no leakage and this makes the product travel-friendly.

The applicator is pretty long and it eases the application of the lipstick. The sponge applicator has a bump in the center and this makes it easier to pick up the product. The pointy edges help in application of the color to the corners of the lips without any issues. I absolutely love how this beautiful leaf shaped applicator helps in spreading the product all over the lips.

The first shade that I picked up was “Romantic”. The shade unlike its name is a hot pink shade. When I first swatched it, I was taken aback by the neon pink shade and I was sure that this is not something I could carry. But, when I saw a picture of Rati and other few members in the blog rocking this shade, it gave me a little courage to pick this one up. The lipstick is definitely bold and it instantly lightens up the face with the color. I feel that it is a great choice for the gloomy winter!

The texture is creamy and is a bit sticky. Until it dries, you can feel it on the lips. It has a light hint of fragrance. The product being thick, feels heavy on the lips till it dries. The product takes a while to dry and till then, you need to be a little careful to not smudge it or crease it.

The product has a matte finish and doesn’t have any gloss or shimmer in it. Once the lipstick dries, the product is smudge proof, kiss proof and waterproof. There is no bleeding or transfer of the color. The color stays on for a while and also leaves a pinkish stain that stays for a few more hours. The product peels a bit, which I feel is a bit weird. It partially smudges off with a meal and you can see patches of areas being rubbed off. After 4-5 hours, I can see skin peeling on my lips and I need to reapply the lipstick to cover it up. But, since I have very dry lips, I do not want to put the product down for my issue! The product stays on for a good 8 hours when applied on proper exfoliated and moisturized lips. It leaves a stain that lasts for another 5-6 hours. So, you can expect the color to stay on for around 12-13 hours on your lips. Since the color is long-lasting, it leaves a stain and care must be taken for removal. A normal wipe will smudge off the color onto the skin surrounding the lips and makes you look like Hanuman! You need to use a good oil based cleanser. I have used coconut/olive oil and was able to get the stain out completely.

Overall, it is worth a try. It is pretty expensive and I have tried Catrice Aqua inks that are less expensive than this, but it offers some great colors and is worth a try.
